Top offensive targets for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Bucs’ offensive line has not been the same since Ryan Jensen’s catastrophic knee injury before the 2022 season. Not only was Jensen one of the best centers in the NFL, he was the offense’s tone setter. Powers-Johnson is as close as the Bucs have gotten to a replacement since losing Jensen.

Powers-Johnson is scheme and position versatile, hallmarks of the kind of offensive line GM Jason Licht targets in the draft. Most importantly, he comes with a position-defining attitude that, along with his dominant blocking skill, made him a darling at this year’s Senior Bowl and at the Combine.

Center is not typically a high-value position, but Tampa Bay’s interior offensive line has been among the league’s worst for over two years. It needs a major, immediate upgrade, which Powers-Johnson is most likely to provide.
