Rangers-Devils game descends into chaos with insane line brawl in opening seconds

Well, that escalated quickly.

The Rangers and Devils quickly turned their Wednesday night matchup at Madison Square Garden in a fight night.

Off the opening faceoff, the teams immediately dropped the gloves at two seconds, and among the bevy of scraps, Matt Rempe went toe-to-toe with Kurtis MacDermid.

K’Andre Miller, Jimmy Vesey, Barclay Goodrow, Jacob Trouba and Rempe all received fighting majors right from the jump.

Matt Rempe was among those in the slew of fights for the Rangers.

All of the brawling even led to head coach Peter Laviolette and Devils interim headman Travis Green jawing at each other.

In just the first two seconds, the teams accounted for 132 penalty minutes.

With 15:33 left in the first period, Will Cuylle then took Brendan Smith down with a boarding, and then Cuylle and Dawson Mercer dropped the glove.

This is a developing story
