The Spurs and Suns really embraced spooky season on Tuesday night.
San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama and Devonte’ Graham and Phoenix’s Damion Lee all got into the Halloween spirit on Tuesday night, arriving at Footprint Center decked out in creative costumes.
Wembanyama may take the prize for the most terrifying costume, while Lee had a little fun dressing up like a fellow athlete — the Jets’ Aaron Rodgers to be exact.
The Spurs’ first overall pick in June’s draft showed up to the game against Kevin Durant and the Suns dressed as Slender Man, a horrifying character that was a “creepypasta” internet meme that first appeared in 2009 and was later turned into a film in 2018.
Wembanyama walked into the arena in the getup that seemed all too perfect of a costume for the French big man.
The Spurs’ social media team even shared a terrifying black-and-white picture of Wembanyama on the team bus.
The costume even impressed the “NBA on TNT” crew, though Shaquille O’Neal didn’t seem to get the reference.
“You don’t know Slender Man?!” Charles Barkley asked Shaq.
“No, I do not,” O’Neal replied.
“That’s because you’ve never been slim,” Barkley zinged back.
Lee went a different route with his Halloween attire.
Lee, who underwent meniscus repair surgery for his right knee and is out for at least a month for the Suns, got creative in dressing up as an injured Rodgers.
He, while using crutches, threw on a headset, a No. 8 Jets Jersey and carried a “Jets playbook” and a football to complete the ensemble.
The injured Phoenix player should certainly get an award for most creative costume in the arena.
Graham also walked into the arena with a scary costume like his Spurs teammate, channeling the spirit of Ghostface from the “Scream” movie franchise.
While he wasn’t wearing the entire outfit, Graham did have on a mask and a shirt with matching shorts that paid homage to the fictional killer.
Tuesday’s fun followed a Monday that saw Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo walking into his postgame press conference dressed as the Hulk, complete with a mask, gloves and shirt.
