Millie Bobby Brown‘s wedding to Jake Bongiovi will have a touch of Stranger Things.
Matthew Modine, the actor behind the hit Netflix series’ Dr. Martin Brenner a.k.a. “Papa,” is set to officiate the upcoming ceremony. The actor confirmed the news while speaking to Access Hollywood, per People.
“I have one of those licenses to get people married and Millie thought it’d be great and then Jake said it would be a great idea, so I wrote the wedding vows and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife,” he explained.
He said that he’s only officiated one other wedding previously, which took place during the pandemic.
“It was an outdoor wedding and it was weird,” he said. “It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.”
Noting that he’s “been married 44 years,” he added, “it’s amazing when it works.”
Brown announced that she and Bongiovi were engaged in April 2023, sharing a photo on Instagram of the two of them in which is wearing an engagement ring. She rehashed the story of their engagement for the first time publicly on a recent Tonight Show appearance, per People.
Highlighting that she and her fiancé “bonded over diving,” she recalled that Bongiovi proposed to her underwater, but upon showing him the ring on her finger, it fell off. Brown likened the speed of the ring falling to what you would see in “a cinematic movie,” and noted that Bongiovi “threw himself” deep into the water to save it.
“I truly feel like it’s a reflection of who he is and I feel like we’re always going to have each other’s back,” she said. “And if anyone drops the ball, we got it.”
Fans are still awaiting news on when Stranger Things Season 5 will be released. On Jan. 8, it was announced that production had begun, but Brown recently teased to The Drew Barrymore Show, “By the time it comes out I’ll be like 25.”
