OPINION:
Over the past month, we have seen the exploitation of our country’s freedoms in ways I never imagined. We have legislators unwilling to enforce our basic laws to ensure the safety and rights of every citizen; we have a president and administration whose policies actually encourage the breaking of those laws.
America is so busy trying to make everybody happy that nobody is happy.
Our media outlets’ attempt at presenting the current crisis between Israel and terrorist groups Hamas and Hezbollah in a balanced manner is both misguided and impossible. The latter aim for nothing short of the destruction of Israel and the annihilation of its people. You can’t defend evil actions or atrocities with logic, hoping the sides will be seen as equal. A country divided will not survive.
King Solomon is often considered the wisest man in the Bible. When he was given the task of resolving a dispute involving two women, each claiming to be the mother of a baby, he recognized that the woman who offered to give up the child in order to save its life had to be the real parent. Solomon rightly awarded that woman the baby.
As a nation, we must now do as Solomon did and take a stand for righteousness. We must remain strong against groups using social media to influence immature youth by striking an emotional chord. We have to choose to stand in solidarity with those who uphold our values, principles and laws — and stop hoping that those who oppose us will see the error of their ways.
