OPINION:
Our southern border is finally getting some of the attention it deserves, even from the mainstream media (“DHS scrambles to deal with thousands of migrants swarming across border Wednesday in Texas,” Web, Sept. 20).
President Biden did a terrible thing his first day in office, when he opened the borders — and it’s a decision from which we are unlikely to recover. Biden, former President Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and others are all on record saying we must secure our borders. That, of course, was before they succumbed to woke ideology.
Congress is not off the hook in the matter. Legislators have done nothing to stop the waves of humanity pouring into this country. Because of Congress’ total inaction, many people wanting to come here legally are now going to be penalized.
Good governing is a lost art in the U.S. Just look at corruption-caused lawlessness that has destroyed businesses and communities. Those who have the power to stop it are refusing to uphold the law.
