The Yankees have added another utility candidate to the mix, claiming Jahmai Jones off waivers from the Brewers on Wednesday.
To open a spot on the 40-man roster, they designated corner infielder Jordan Groshans for assignment.
Jones, a 26-year-old with no minor league options remaining, has only played second base in the majors, where he has hit .179 with a .460 OPS across 36 games with the Brewers, Orioles and Angels.
But the right-handed hitter also has corner outfield experience in the minors.
Across 103 games at Triple-A last year, he hit .268 with a .879 OPS.
