Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy has joined NFL Network as a gameday analyst, and his first day couldn’t have gone better.
McCoy picked the Sunday slate of games with co-workers Rich Eisen, Steve Mariucci, Kurt Warner and Michael Irvin before the 1 p.m. EST games started. Everyone picked the Vikings to win the game, save for McCoy —he correctly picked the Bucs, who went on to win the matchup 20-17 to start the season 1-0.
McCoy was given the “lone wolf” cap by the rest of the crew, a tradition demanding any analyst on the network who picks a different team than the others to wear it and howl. McCoy embraced his lone wolf status, and he got to rub it in on social media when his former team proved the other analysts wrong and won their matchup.
Even Bucs general manager Jason Licht, whom McCoy wasn’t drafted by but played under in Tampa, got in on the fun:
Hey @Geraldini93 turns out your also very good at your new job! #gobucs pic.twitter.com/qOm6hmAYdt

McCoy had an illustrious career in Tampa Bay, whom he proudly declared he could never pick against during his first day on the job. McCoy had 220 solo tackles and 54.5 sacks for Tampa Bay during his tenure with the team.
