The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off their season with a win against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, getting it done in Minneapolis 20-17. Unfortunately for them, most other teams in the NFC South won their games, too.
The NFC South went 3-1 on Sunday, only losing to itself. The New Orleans Saints faced off against the Tennessee Titans, and managed to eek out the win in a very low scoring affair that saw Derek Carr pass for over 300 yards but just one touchdown. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Falcons and the Carolina Panthers were tied at 10-all heading into the fourth quarter, but a dominant final stretch from the Falcons saw them score 14 points and take the victory at home against No. 1-overall draft pick Bryce Young.
With all that in mind, here are the current standings for the NFC South. The Falcons take the lead after Week 1 with the best point differential:
| Team | W | L | T | Win% | PF | PA | Home | Away | Strk |
| Atlanta Falcons | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 24 | 10 | 1-0 | 0-0 | W1 |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 20 | 17 | 0-0 | 1-0 | W1 |
| New Orleans Saints | 1 | 0 | 0 | 1.000 | 16 | 15 | 1-0 | 0-0 | W1 |
| Carolina Panthers | 0 | 1 | 0 | .000 | 10 | 24 | 0-0 | 0-1 | L1 |
