OPINION:
With former President Trump up by anywhere from 40 to 50 points in the polls, it amuses me when I see headlines such as, “And then there were seven,” regarding the remaining Republican candidates for president.
You call this a competitive contest? If it were a professional wrestling match, it would be Andre the Giant vs. the Seven Dwarfs. Isn’t there a “mercy rule” for politics like there is in softball when the score gets out of hand? If not, there should be—at least for this instance.
The 2024 election is super critical in getting our country back on track after what will have been a four-year nightmare. We need to give Trump, who deserves every break imaginable, maximum advantage to rescue our country. And that starts with shutting down the useless primaries and focusing all party resources on defeating Joe Biden before he gets another four years to finish driving us off a cliff.
