Letter to the editor: Slogans easier to learn than history

The oppressed/oppressor narrative is the primary tool pulled from the Marxist grab bag for dividing cultures targeted for destruction. Through the years, this time-worn template has been used around the world to pit rich against poor, black against white and straight against the alphabet community.

Critical race theory, the stepchild of Marxist thought, is not about furthering the understanding of anything. It’s about fomenting division by dividing one group from another to bring about revolutionary change.

The fruit of this ideology is on full display on our college campuses, where poorly informed students vent their rage against and presumed moral superiority over Israel based on a bogus story that ignores the history and complexities of the region. Israel is accused of being a colonizer and therefore an evil oppressor for returning to a land in which its people have lived for thousands of years.

Unfortunately, for these “progressives,” understanding of the issue need go no deeper than pickets, pejoratives and the penitence that follows virtue signaling. And to add insult to injury, President Biden wants to hand us the bill to pay for these kids’ tuitions.
