OPINION:
There was a healthy dose of punishment inflicted on those of us who watched the second GOP 2024 presidential debate this week (“Candidates fight for second place in another Trump-less debate,” Web Sept. 27).
Seven people, most of whom shedded their dignity and their manners, were bound and determined to say whatever they wanted, to answer a different question than the one that was asked and to go beyond the time they had been granted by the three hapless moderators, all of whom lost control of the event.
Throughout the long two hours of the donnybrook, there were repeated instances in which two, three or four contenders were talking at the same time, each trying to speak louder than the others. It made for a train wreck.
If this was meant to be a forum in which we saw seven individuals, each of whom hoped to be deemed worthy of winning the nomination, it was a complete failure.
