Letter to the editor: Hope after all

Given a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll showing former President Trump with a commanding lead of nearly 10 points over President Biden, I’m beginning to think there’s hope for America after all. Trump has shrewdly countered Biden’s inflation and open borders by campaigning on a platform of instant economic relief. How? He’ll reopen America’s energy industry and enact the “greatest deportation policy in human history.” And it appears this ‘survive ‘til ‘25’ theme is graining traction with the American public.

Though I strongly suspect that the ancient Biden will be replaced long before Election Day more than a year from now, he is the worst president in history and deserves to be the face of this forthcoming, humiliating electoral defeat. Americans like me are sick of this corrupt, pathological liar and con man, his administration and above all, his country-destroying policies.

However, Trump can’t afford to take his foot off the gas. In fact, he would be smart to run this race as if he were 10 points behind. That way he can ensure such a resounding electoral victory, no one will question it.
