Letter to the editor: Holocaust deniers should visit Dachau

University students across the country are protesting against Israel with slogans equating to the elimination of the Jewish state (“ACLU urges universities to reject calls to investigate Students for Justice in Palestine,” web, Nov. 1).

I was in the Olympic Stadium in Munich on Sept. 4 and 5 of 1972 with two other U.S. soldiers who decided to stay there overnight, sleeping under some bushes. We awoke on Sept. 5 to find German police and soldiers on every walkway, with 50 to 100 feet separating them. We didn’t know why but soon found out: Terrorists had taken hostage and killed 11 members of Israel’s Olympic team.

Dachau was nearby, with a museum dedicated to educating people about the Nazi camp, which had evolved from concentration to death camp. When we visited we saw piles of striped uniforms, reading glasses and shoes, as well as numerous photos. We also saw ovens where the Nazis burned the Jewish people they had murdered.

For those who deny the Holocaust, the museum is still there. Go visit and learn.
