Letter to the editor: Blood is on Hamas' hands only

Why are the many leaders and luminaries so noisily decrying the innocent Palestinian blood being shed as the result of bombing by the Israel Defense Forces so deafeningly silent regarding the terror group’s deliberate and strategic positioning of these assets in and next to hospitals and schools (“Outlines of good and evil obvious in Israel’s fight against Hamas,” web, Nov. 2)?

And why have these same individuals not demanded Hamas cease its barbaric use of women and children as human shields as passionately as they clamor for a cease-fire? I fear their tears mask a motivation other than concern for innocent life. After all, would not the cessation of Hamas’ barbaric practices spare the lives of innocents?

Come to think of it, how many Palestinian children could be spared the hell of war if Iran, Hamas and others who never accepted the establishment of a Jewish state in their neighborhood abandoned their hatred and their plans for Jewish genocide?

Hypocrisy and antisemitism have many faces and they often appear together — but never as predictably as they do from totalitarians and the radical left. An accounting of their hypocrisy would require an encyclopedia.

Now, wouldn’t it be refreshing if the American president — instead of virtue signaling to his radical base for a cease-fire — wagged his finger at the leaders of Iran and Hamas and placed the blame for the loss of innocent lives directly where it belongs: at their feet for their hate, barbarism and schemes for Jewish annihilation.

We should not hold our collective breath. So much for American presidential leadership and the crocodile tears of leaders and luminaries.
