OPINION:
Never before in my 90 years have I been as ashamed of my country, the Democratic Party and U.S. colleges and students as I am today (“Hamas exposes educated Americans’ love of terrorism,” web, Oct. 23). My party now encourages violence and hatred for political advantage against the fear of Donald Trump ever being reelected.
China is now the supreme power in the world. Instead of being self-reliant for energy, we are dependent on our enemies. We help finance Iran in its efforts to destroy Israel, and our tax dollars support terrorists around the world. Our once-great cities are inundated with crime and homelessness.
The current war in the Middle East is not one of Israelis against Palestinians. The demonstrations fostered by radical activists in this country has exposed the failure of our education systems to teach the true history of our world. Israel has a majority of Jews but includes Muslims, Christians, Druze and others. For a time, they lived in peace in a vibrant, inclusive country. Muslims from the West Bank and Gaza commuted daily to jobs in Israel, contributing to the economy.
The war is between Israel and Hamas. Hamas are Islamists, terrorists like those that attacked the U.S. on 9/11. Have our educators forgotten how to teach our children? Our youth are being brainwashed into believing that violence is acceptable during “demonstrations.” Our politicians use this to further their agenda.
We are being destroyed not by a foreign enemy, but from within.
