A heated rivalry game ended in some controversy.
In the waning seconds of the Islanders-Rangers matchup at UBS Arena on Tuesday, Blueshirts forward Vincent Trocheck was hit from behind into the boards by the defenseman Noah Dobson, but no penalty was called, and the Islanders ended up skating to a 4-2 win.
As the Rangers controlled the puck in the offensive zone, the vulcanized rubber was tipped by an Islander’s stick and ended up floating in the air toward the end boards.

Trocheck, with the Islanders up one, tried to corral the puck but was instead crushed by Dobson, with the forward getting sent into the lower part of the boards.
The Islanders added an empty-netter shortly thereafter from Anders Lee, and Trocheck was visibly incensed with the officials for not making a call.
