The offense put up more points than it has all year, and Baker Mayfield had maybe his best game as a Buccaneers so far in 2023.
We’ll take off a few points here because the performance wasn’t perfect. The Bucs went just 3-for-13 on third down scenarios and weren’t able to get the run game going, averaging just 2.6 yards per carry during the course of the matchup. But the team vastly improved on other parts of the offense, and it resulted in quite a bit of points.
Tampa Bay was highly efficient in the red zone, going 4-for-5 with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. Mayfield completed an astonishing 70% of his passes, didn’t turn the ball over and picked up a crucial fourth down conversion with his legs, showing out in his home state. Wide receiver Mike Evans caught some key passes and set up scoring opportunities while running back Rachaad White helped facilitate the offense in the run game and the pass game with two rushing touchdowns and over 40 receiving yards.
Sounds like an impressive performance, right? Well, it put up 37 points, but there was just one issue…
