Heroes, zeros from Giants' win vs. Cardinals: Saquon Barkley stars

Hero, zeros and full blitz from the Giants’ 31-28 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.

Hero

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones refused to let his team lose. He completed 26 of 37 passes for 321 yards with two touchdowns and one interception after a miserable start and added 59 yards and a touchdown rushing on nine carries. It was Jones who was the engineer to the 24-point comeback.

Zero

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon stood helplessly as his team blew a 21-point lead in the second half. He was outcoached by the Giants’ Brian Daboll.

Unsung Hero

Saquon Barkley’s numbers weren’t huge, rushing for 63 yards on 17 carries and catching six passes for 29 yards. But, like Jones, Barkley was the heart of the comeback, scoring on a 1-yard run and then he cut the Arizona lead to 28-21 on a dynamic dive to the pilon after catching a Jones pass on third-and-goal from the 9-yard line.

Saquon Barkley scored a key touchdown but also exited with an ankle injury during the Giants' victory.

Key Stat

21: That’s how many first downs the Giants produced in the second half after only five in the first half.

Quote

“No game is ever over. We have a lot of trust and confidence in each other and we’re going to keep building.”

— Giants linebacker Bobby Okereke
