One smart cookie?
Toronto-based registered dietitian Abbey Sharp is sharing the three factors she considers when shopping for cookies — ingredients, texture, and taste.
“Number one: not gluten-free,” Sharp, creator of the YouTube channel Abbey’s Kitchen, explained Sunday on TikTok. “Listen, I’m so grateful that we have a wide range of gluten-free products out there for folks who are celiac or who are gluten-intolerant, but I’m neither of those things and I can enjoy gluten without issues. And let’s be real, most gluten-free cookies are dry as f–k.”
Sharp said she also prefers chewy cookies over crunchy ones — except when it comes to Double Stuf Oreos.
“Because let’s be real, that’s always the exception,” she declared.
For the record, Nabisco also makes gluten-free Double Stuf Oreos.
And third on Sharp’s list is finding a cookie she actually wants to eat.
“Listen, I’m not eating cookies as health foods. If I’m going to eat a cookie, I’m going to eat the cookie that’s really going to hit the spot,” she said as she held up a package of Chips Ahoy! Cadbury Mini Eggs Chocolate Chip Cookies. “Ooooh, mini eggs? Yes, please!”
On her site, Sharp has shared recipes for the “best” peanut butter cookies, vegan oatmeal cookies with banana, chai cookies, and, um, gluten-free sugar cookies.
TikTok users revealed their cookie faves in the comments section of Sharp’s 48-second clip.
“I am a fan of a crispy thin cookie. no one can pry my chocolate mint milanos outta my hands,” one person proclaimed.
“Soft cookies all the way so I don’t have crumbs in my bed,” another asserted.
“Yaaaaaaaaas nobody has time for a crumby bed,” Sharp replied.
“Notice how she said what she enjoys and like nothing about [nutritional] value and stuf,” a third TikToker teased.
Perhaps that’s because two Double Stuf Oreos contain 140 calories, 21 grams of carbohydrates, and 13 grams of added sugar. Two of the Chips Ahoy! Cadbury Egg cookies have 140 calories, 19 grams of carbs, and 9 grams of added sugars.
Sharp responded to the nutrition comment Sunday with three pairs of sideways eye emojis.
