Derek Carr “week to week”, may miss Week 4 vs. Bucs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to take on the New Orleans Saints in Week 4, and the team may not know which quarterback it will face immediately.

Saints quarterback Derek Carr is the starter for the team, but he suffered a sprained AC joint during the Saints’ loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Initial reports claimed he would be out for some time, but New Orleans coach Dennis Allen revealed in a press conference Monday that Carr will not be ruled out for the Saints’ Week 4 game against the Buccaneers — rather, that he will be evaluated “week to week.”

If Carr is set to go, the Bucs could be facing a hampered version of him. Over the course of his career, Carr has played two games against Tampa Bay in has thrown for 797 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. The Bucs only saw him twice due to him playing for the Raiders in the AFC, but now that he’s with the Saints, Tampa Bay can expect to see him far more often.

If Carr isn’t able to go, former Bucs QB Jameis Winston would be his replacement. Winston served as Tampa Bay’s QB before Tom Brady was signed and hasn’t played much against the Bucs, but he has 304 yards, two touchdowns and three picks in the three games he’s played against them.
