Bucs elevate LB J.J Russell from practice squad

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be a bit hampered by injuries on Sunday, but they’ll be calling up a reliable option to help fill the gaps against the Chicago Bears.

As reported by JC Allen of BucsGameday, Tampa Bay is set to elevate linebackerJ.J. Russell to the main roster after on Sunday when the team plays Chicago. The elevation comes after Bucs LB SirVocea Dennis suffered a hamstring injury and was listed out on Friday’s injury report.

Russell had a stellar preseason, ending as one of PFF’s highest-graded defenders. He had 15 solo tackles, an interception and a forced fumble during the three games he played in preseason. Russell was cut from the team’s 90-man roster to create the initial 53-man roster, but he was quickly signed back to the practice squad.

Russell could get another chance to prove his prowess in the regular season when the Bucs play the Bears on Sunday.
