Hurricane Idalia is rapidly approaching the state of Florida, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are taking precautions.
The team announced Tuesday that it is canceling a scheduled Wednesday practice in light of the hurricane’s approach. The team is currently planning to hold its Wednesday practice but has pushed the start time back to 10:45 a.m.
As of the latest 11 a.m. update, Idalia is set to hit Florida’s “big bend” near the panhandle above Tampa Bay. While there may not be direct impact, threats of storm surge remain in effect for the Tampa Bay area and evacuation orders have been given for Hillsborough and Pinellas County in areas in low-lying areas prone to flooding.
The Bucs are set to play their first regular season game against the Minnesota Vikings on the road on Sept. 10.
