Baker Mayfield wins GMFB’s “Angry Runs” scepter

With Week 1 over, Good Morning Football’s Kyle Brandt was gearing up to award his famous “Angry Runs” scepter — and the first edition of 2023’s award is heading to Tampa Bay.

Brandt awards a scepter every week to the player who he deems has the angriest run, and he awarded Week 1’s scepter to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield. In the final frame of the game, Mayfield stiff-armed Vikings cornerback Byron Murphy to gain a chunk of yards and told the Minnesota CB to “get his weight up” while heading back to the huddle.

Mayfield went up against Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, Chicago Bears RB Roschon Johnson and Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry, but in the end, the QB won out. Mayfield is the second Bucs player to win the “Angry Runs” scepter from GMFB, the first being Rachaad White for his efforts against the Seahawks in Munich last year.
