Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Antoine Winfield Jr. put himself in the record books on Sunday.
The son of former Minnesota Vikings corner Antoine Winfield strip-sacked quarterback Kirk Cousins with around five minutes left in the first quarter, and doing so broke a franchise record. Winfield Jr. became the first Bucs safety to record 10 sacks in franchise history. The Bucs have had quite a few great safeties, but even Tampa Bay’s Hall of Fame safety in John Lynch only recorded six sacks during his tenure in Tampa Bay.
Winfield Jr.’s 10 sacks are also the most by any defensive back since 2020. He has 0.5 more sacks than the Seattle Seahawks’ Jamal Adams, who is second on the list with 9.5.
