Couple Denise Huskins and Aaron Quinn survived a dangerous home invasion in 2015, and despite the challenges that followed, they never fell out of love. In fact, the American Nightmare subjects married in 2018.
On March 23, 2015, Matthew Muller broke into the home of Quinn and Huskins. The two were sedated and blindfolded, and Huskins was kidnapped.
Quinn reported the crime when he regained consciousness and Muller demanded a large ransom.
Quinn became a suspect for Huskins’ disappearance after he revealed that the two had a recent fight over him texting an ex-girlfriend, and strange details from the invasion emerged.
Huskins resurfaced two days later and kept to herself because Muller threatened the safety of her loved ones. Despite eventually telling her account of events, the police accused the couple of creating an elaborate hoax and likened them to the 2014 thriller Gone Girl.
Upon being caught, Muller was sentenced to 40 years in prison for rape, kidnapping, and robbery, and Huskins and Quinn received $2.5 million from the city of Vallejo for defamation.
The couple appears in the new Netflix documentary, which premiered January 17, 2024.
At the end of American Nightmare, it’s revealed that Huskins and Quinn are married with two children. The docuseries includes a brief montage from the wedding, along with a sentimental voiceover. “We got married, we moved to the coast, and started a new life,” Huskins says. “In March 2020, I gave birth to our daughter Olivia.”
“Then we had another little girl, Naomi,” Quinn shares. “It feels like our family is complete.”
The two married on September 28, 2018.
Huskins continues to speak about their children, “I want them to know their value and to never let anyone determine that for them.” Quinn adds, “More than anything, I hope that they grow up to be like their mom. If they do that, they’ll be okay.”
Huskins shared photos from their wedding on Instagram in 2018, writing, “So grateful to my husband and all of our loved ones for such an incredible day and wonderful memories.”
The couple co-authored the novel Victim F: From Crime Victims to Suspects to Survivors, which was published by Berkley in 2021.
